Bumblebee Crisis! How will this affect us?

Dear Dr. Palmer, Hello. After I sent an article about the population explosion, I have found an interesting article that might lead the extermination of humans, so I will let you know about it. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/01/110104-bumblebees-b... This article shows that some types of bumblebees are rapidly dissapearing. The troublesome thing is that we have not been able to figure out what causes this problem. One of the hypotheses is that the bumblebees imported from Europe brought viruses, which are fatal in some of the American bumblebees, and they caused long-term pandemics. The reason why this problem may affect our lives, even though the honeybees are also working for humans in addition to the bumblebees, is stated as follows. Since the bumblebees are bigger than the honeybees, they work much more efficiently (they carry much more pollens). They are known as "hardworkers" among beekeepers. However, the problem decreases the amount of pollens carried, and more and more plants cannot grow enough to provide food for us. Since more and more people need food now, this problem will cause a disaster if it is not solved. This article is not directly related to humans, but it might be related to evolution and ecology. I hope someone in BIOL 1010 will like it.
