There Will Soon Be 7 Billion People on the Planet... Can the Planet Take the Strain?

Dear Dr. Palmer, Hello. This is T*** ****, a student in your class, BIOL1010. I would like to show you one article from National Geographic. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2011/01/seven-billion/kunzig-text/1 This article, "Population 7 Billion," is talking about the effects caused by the population explosion such as environmental and food crises. The author, Robert Kunzig, also alarms this continuous steep augment of population with respect to the possible enormous magnitude of hunger or pandemic. He finally shows an example of population explosion in India to demostrate the effects. In my opinion, I am also scared by this rapid population growth happening nowadays especially with respect to the pandemics. For example, in Tokyo, Japan, since there are too many people squeezed into a small area, it is crowded everywhere, and the diseases such as flu spread all over the place very quickly. If the world becomes like Tokyo, it is very easy to have pandemics all over the world. Although childrens are "treastures" among us, controlling the population should be one of the matters that have be done as soon as possible.
